FAQ & Policies
Questions, answered.
Everything families ask before joining, and the policies that apply once they have.
Getting started
We welcome golfers aged 5 to 14, taught in three separate age groups: 5–7, 8–10 and 11–14. Within each age group, the level is set by skill rather than age, so a strong golfer can move up a stage.
Browse classes by ageNot at all. Foundations classes are built for first-time golfers. Children with some experience can join Development or Course Ready, and coaches confirm the right level during the first sessions. If you are unsure where your child belongs, write to Josh at josh@starterhouse.golf and we will help you choose.
We expect to provide junior clubs for use during class, so beginners need not buy anything to start. Students with their own fitted set are welcome to bring it.
Comfortable clothes they can swing in, clean flat-soled shoes and a water bottle. Golf shoes are not needed indoors.
Classes
No more than four students per simulator bay, and no more than sixteen in a class across our four bays. Coaching staff is matched to the number of students.
Every class runs for 75 minutes, at the same time each week. For our youngest group, ages 5–7, the 75 minutes include movement, short games and water breaks.
First by age group — 5–7, 8–10 or 11–14 — and then by skill. You choose a level when you enroll, and coaches confirm placement in the first sessions; if another level would suit your child better, we will suggest it and help you find a time. If you would like help choosing, write to Josh at josh@starterhouse.golf.
Parents are welcome to wait in the lounge during class. Arrangements for watching lessons will be confirmed before opening.
That is the aim. Course Ready classes prepare students for on-course play, and we are working toward outdoor experiences at partner courses. We will share details as partnerships are confirmed.
Read about the pathwayEnrollment & billing
You enroll in one recurring weekly class for a term — for example, Tuesdays at 3:45 PM for eight weeks. Paying the full tuition reserves your child’s place for every session in the term. The location and first class date are confirmed before classes begin.
Browse weekly classesThere is no password. Enter your email on the sign-in page and we will email you a 6-digit code; type it in and you are signed in. Codes work once and expire after 10 minutes. New to the House? The same steps create your account.
Sign in or create an accountYes. One family account holds as many children as you like, each with their own class and schedule.
We are aiming to open in January 2027. That date is tentative and depends on demand. The location in Orange County and the first class date have not been set yet; we will email enrolled families as soon as they are confirmed.
Tuition is $1,280 for eight weekly 75-minute sessions, paid in full when you enroll; that payment reserves your child’s place for the term. If our opening is cancelled or the confirmed location, start date, or class schedule materially changes, you may request a full refund before your first class. Payment is by card through our Stripe checkout; Apple Pay or Google Pay may also appear if your device supports them.
A standard term has eight sessions at $160 each. Terms around holidays may have fewer sessions; they are priced at $160 per scheduled class, and the total is always shown before you pay.
Terms run about eight weeks. We will publish the next schedule before the current term ends and let enrolled families know first, so you can enroll for the next term from your account.
Waitlists
Join the waitlist for that class, or tell us the days and times that suit you. Some classes release places in stages. When a place opens or is released, we email the next family in line, who has 24 hours to accept before it is offered to the next family.
No. Joining a waitlist is free, and you can leave it at any time from your account.
By email. Each offer includes a link to enroll and the time by which to reply. A place is never offered to two families at once.
Share your preferred days and times. We review these requests when planning each term and email you if a suitable class opens.

If our opening is cancelled or the confirmed location, start date, or class schedule materially changes, you may request a full refund before your first class. This promise is shown before you pay.
Beyond the promise above, our policy for families who cancel for other reasons, and for any credit for missed sessions after classes begin, has not been finalised. It will be published here before classes begin.
Please let us know in advance. Tuition covers the scheduled sessions in the term; whether make-up sessions are offered, and how, will be set out here.
If we ever need to cancel a session, we will tell you as early as we can and offer a make-up session or a credit.
No waiver is agreed when you reserve a place. Any participation waiver will be provided for you to review before the first class.
We use the details you give us — your contact details and your children’s details — to run enrollment, send sign-in codes and class updates, and take payment. Accounts and enrollment records are stored with our database provider, Supabase; emails are sent through Resend; payments are processed by Stripe, and card details are never stored by The Starter House. Photo consent is optional and asked for separately. This website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, to measure visits to its public pages, such as the home, club and class pages; sign-in, family account, enrollment and payment pages are not measured, and no family, child, form or payment details are sent to Google. Questions about your information can be sent to josh@starterhouse.golf. The full privacy policy will be published here before classes begin.
We want every family to find the House, and this site, easy to use. If your child or anyone in your family has access needs, let us know when enrolling or write to josh@starterhouse.golf, and we will make arrangements.
