The Levels

What each class type means.

Classes are grouped by age — 5–7, 8–10 and 11–14 — and coaches place each student by skill within the class. For ages 5–7, the 75 minutes include movement, short games and water breaks.

01

Foundations

No experience needed

For children getting comfortable with golf. Grip, stance and posture, balance and solid contact, putting and chipping basics — and the etiquette that makes golf a pleasure to share.

They will learn

  • Grip, stance and posture
  • Balance and solid contact
  • Putting and chipping basics
  • Staying safe around swinging clubs
  • Simple games that build touch and feel

We expect them to know

  • No golf experience is needed
  • Can follow multi-step instructions from a coach
  • Happy to take turns and focus for most of a 75-minute class

Etiquette

Learning the basics: standing still and quiet while others swing, taking turns in the bay, and thanking their coach and partners.

02

Development

Some experience

For golfers building consistency and confidence. A repeatable full swing, distance control with the wedges, start line and shot shape, and a pre-shot routine they can trust.

They will learn

  • A repeatable full swing
  • Distance control with the wedges
  • Start line and shot shape
  • A pre-shot routine
  • Scoring around the green

We expect them to know

  • Sets up correctly without reminders
  • Makes solid contact most of the time
  • Putts and chips with basic control
  • Has hit balls at a range or played a few holes

Etiquette

Practised habits: quiet and still for others, safe distance in the bay, keeping pace in drills, repairing marks on the green, a handshake at the end.

03

Course Ready

Preparing for the course

For students preparing to take their game onto a real course: course management, scoring and the rules, pace of play, and the judgement that turns good swings into good rounds.

They will learn

  • Course management and club choice
  • Scoring and the rules of golf
  • Pace of play
  • Routines that hold up under pressure
  • Preparing for on-course play

We expect them to know

  • A full swing that holds up across clubs
  • Reliable wedge distances
  • Has played nine holes or more, with family or on a par-3
  • Keeps their own score and knows basic rules

Etiquette

Course manners: order of play, where to stand, raking bunkers, repairing ball marks, keeping up with the group and calling their own penalties.
